6th Semi-Annual Wall Street Challenge
Middle/High School Business Education Classes and Investment Clubs!
Take part in the Midwest Professional Planners Wall Street Challenge!
Have you ever wondered if you have the stock-picking skills necessary
to make big profits in today's stock market? Do you wonder how your (or
your group's) skills compare to those of others in Central Wisconsin?
If you are not already in a class or investment club, would you like the
chance to build an investment portfolio, while building your investing
knowledge at the same time? If so, take part in the Midwest Professional
Planners Wall Street Challenge! The Challenge will track each participating
team's portfolio, and a champion team will be awarded at the end of each
calendar quarter.
Who is qualified to enter?
- Business education classes of middle/high schools. Only 5 team entries
will be permitted per school. Jr. & Sr. High Schools will be considered
separately.
- Any current investment club in the Central Wisconsin area (whether
NAIC-registered or not).
- Any other group of 4 interested individuals in the Central Wisconsin
area.
When does the Challenge begin?
- The official starting date is February 1, 2003, (Although portfolios
can be submitted earlier).
- The Challenge will begin anew at the beginning of each calendar quarter.
How do the portfolios get developed?
- Portfolios are allowed to include only stocks that trade on the New
York Stock Exchange, NASDAQ, or AMEX Exchange.
- Each portfolio will have a beginning value of $200,000.
- Teams can invest the $200,000 in as many stocks as they wish, but
each holding must be for at least 100 shares (round lot). TEAMS MUST
PICK A MINIMUM OF 3 STOCKS - TEAMS THAT ONLY HAVE 1 STOCK PICK IN THEIR
PORTFOLIO WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
- Once a portfolio is submitted, no additional buying or selling will
be allowed during the quarter (to discourage short-term trading).
- Stock symbols/number of shares must be submitted to the Challenge
before February 1, 2003.
- Your team's portfolio's performance will begin the day the Challenge
receives your entry.
- Any entries received after February 1, 2003 are invalid.
- Teams are not required to invest the entire $200,000 if they choose
not to (any amount not invested will not count against total performance,
but that amount will not earn interest).
- No commissions or other investment fees will be charged against performance.
Where can we view the performance of our portfolio?
- Log on to www.mpplplan.com and click on the Wall Street Challenge
link to view Challenge results during the quarter.
How is a winner determined?
- Portfolio performance will be calculated by Midwest Professional Planners,
Ltd., and the team with the highest ending dollar value as of April
30, 2003 will be crowned CHAMPION! A trophy and $200 will be presented
to the winning team of 4 people.
How do teams get registered?
- Register on-line at www.mpplplan.com before February 1, 2003. Be sure
to provide your portfolio (minimum of 3 stocks), team name, and full
names of all participants (4 members per team).
